Karnes County National Bank Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: March 17, 2025 3:00 pM Central Time
In 2001, Karnes County National Bank celebrated its 100 year anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors from Karnes County high schools who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. To date, KCNB has paid $292,000 in awards to Karnes County students.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Karnes County National Bank Scholarship Program must:
- Be a graduating high school senior from one of the following high schools in Texas:
- Karnes City High School
- Kenedy High School
- Runge High School
- Falls City High School
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
High school seniors who are dependents of Karnes County National Bank employees are eligible to apply provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Up to four (4) awards will be granted with preference to one recipient per high school.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by Karnes County National Bank.
Renewals can be used for graduate study if bachelor’s degree has been completed and there are remaining renewals.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in late May.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of
- Academic record
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Work experience
